Stale sites read as closed
A news page whose last item is from 2023 tells a visitor more than the content ever did. It suggests, fairly or not, that nobody is minding the shop.
The fix is never discipline. It is making the update take thirty seconds from a phone in a paddock or a pro shop.
What is worth updating
Anything seasonal or time sensitive. Course status and greens work. Results. New stock. Foals on the ground. Available dates. Changes to opening hours.
These are also, conveniently, the pages that attract search traffic, because they are what people search for.
Build for the person who will actually do it
Usually that is one person with plenty else on. If the system needs a manual it will not be used.
We hand over a site the client can run and we do not charge for edits, because a site nobody updates stops working within a year.
